Hi, I’m Mona! I’m a nonstop dreamer, adventure seeker, group trip host, former airline employee, yoga teacher, nature lover, real estate entrepreneur and A travel content creator with a serious case of wanderlust.

My Story

I was born and raised in Brazil. Ever since I was young, I always dreamed of seeing the world. I was not brought up with a lot of money so unfortunately traveling was just not part of my childhood. When I was 15 years old I got into one of the best universities in Brazil to study Economics on a full scholarship. 1 year prior to graduating I decided to go to the United States to study English because my dream at the time was to get a Masters in International Business that required English fluency.

At 19 years old, I got into an airplane for the first time EVER, and flew alone all the way from Brazil to the USA to work as an au pair and study English. In my first week (I know, crazy!), I met Joseph, we started dating, I finished my program and 1 year later we eloped in Key West, FL. We’ve been married for 16 years, we grew up together, had so many adventures and went through so many challenges, and yet, here we are!

I took almost 2 years off of college after we got married, where we got to live in North Carolina, Florida, Alaska and Oregon. We’re both working odd jobs to be able to travel and living pay check to pay check. We were broke ass kids, but life was good. I cleaned cabins in Alaska, worked as a nanny, sold hats on Duval st. in Key West, and my first “real” job was as a teller in Portland, OR.

I ended up transferring college to the USA, to finish my degree and later earned my Masters in Finance from Tulane University. Soon, I got hired to work for a big energy company in Dallas, TX where I started my corporate career. My second corporate job, was working for Nike and then I finally landed my dream job as a marketing strategist at American Airlines. This WAS THE DREAM! I was on my way up climbing that corporate ladder and the best part… I got to have flight benefits and travel for free. The catch was that I only had 2 weeks of vacation a year, and zero flexibility. Buy hey, I was always in an airplane making the best of my little time off and in 7 years I visited over 35 countries.

Time passed, and I was getting extremely burned out with the corporate world and my lifestyle of 2 weeks of vacation a year. My body just couldn’t take it anymore and I became extremely ill with an autoimmune called Guillain Barre Syndrome, I started to re-evaluate my choices and dreams. I was so unhappy with the corporate world, and my desire to “climb the corporate ladder” just wasn’t there anymore. I felt super lost, since my whole life I thought my dream was to be an executive at a big corporation. What was I going to do now?

The pandemic happened, and American Airlines offered a once in a lifetime opportunity for some people to take voluntary packages to leave the company. I was terrified, but this was my opportunity to try something new. Joseph, my husband, had just finished medical residency, I just had gotten my little dog Jet, it wasn’t the ideal time, but I decided to take a leap of faith. I left American Airlines with a package that included another 10 years of my flight benefits for me and my family (yep, you heard it right) plus tons of miles. I decided at that time, in the middle of the pandemic June 2020, that I was going to become a travel content creator. People thought I was insane! LOL Most of us were locked in our houses and couldn’t travel anywhere. Yes, it seems like an insane idea at the time, I was scared but I did anyways!

I created the The Nonstop Dreamer brand and started to post photos and videos from past travels and as soon as Mexico opened up for travel I went down there. We spent months exploring Quintana Roo and the Yucatan and fell in love, what led us to invest in our first short term rental property, our condo in Tulum.

We kept traveling to places where we were allowed, taking Jet with us when we could, and kept growing The Nonstop Dreamer brand to a total of 125K+ followers on Instagram and Tiktok. I got to pursue some passions, where I learned photography, became a certified Personal Trainer, earned my yoga + meditation teacher certificate and became a sound practitioner. We also fell in love with Utah and bought land there, where we hope to build a unique stay and experience to share with the world.

I’m so grateful the world is back open, I have now been to a total of 45 countries and The Nonstop Dreamer grew into an amazing community of travel and wellness lovers. Nowadays, a big part of my time is spent creating intentional group trips to share with my community, something I’m 100% certain is definitely part of my Dharma because it makes me so happy. I absolutely love traveling with other likeminded women, creating transformational experiences, incredible friendships, going on adventures of a lifetime and having dance parties all over the world.

As you can see life was not always easy but I somehow always found the courage to push the boundaries and follow my dreams. I hope that by sharing my journey I can be an expander for you.
